Mount Nelson’s Planet Restaurant

Mount Nelson’s Planet Restaurant

We attended the opening of the Planet Restaurant last night and the Mount Nelson put on an amazing party in the gardens in the front of the hotel. The food was unbelievable, especially the oysters, mustard fillet and roast lamb, as was the company – Sandra and Jen both looking very glam and both glued to the Oyster Bar.

Executive chef Rudi Liebenberg and Carl Tichart the Planet Restaurant Sous Chef exceeded themselves. (Pictured here sampling some oysters.)

The restaurant is really amazing and definitely something that I think our clients would like the option of going to when on holiday. Really beautifully decorated and you can see no expense has been spared. The carpets in the restaurant are extremely unique. They took a photo of the night sky and had it printed on a dark blue background, so when you walk in you are walking on the stars and planets.

Jonathan (of the Mount Nelson) also managed to take me to see the new re-decorated rooms (in the main building above reception). They have been done extremely well and are definitely not what the Mount Nelson use to be like – I didn’t see one flower print fabric in the two rooms I saw. I would definitely recommend these to clients. The inter-leading Junior Suite and Superior Room are perfect for families.

The Mount Nelson Hotel has definitely come a long way evolving into the 21st century yet keeps the iconic status it has always enjoyed in Cape Town.
