Status Luxury Vehicles dropped off ‘our’ BMW Z4 early Saturday morning and we didn’t waste any time getting acquainted with our ride for the weekend!
I was pleasantly surprised with the confortable driving position and space in the cabin, bear in mind I’m 6ft4 and most roadsters/2 door convertibles are far from comfortable for me. BMW make great cars, and this one is no exception. The sDrive350i comes with a 7 speed dual-clutch automated gearbox, does zero to 100 in under 5 seconds, the top speed is way over the speed limit and unlike Jeremy Clarkson we could work the I Drive system immediately. The exhaust tone isn’t quiet but man it brings a smile your face!! Driving with the top down is what summer in Cape Town is all about and what better way to experience the winelands!
We headed out to the now almost 150 year old Bainskloof Mountain Pass toward the picturesque town of Ceres. The pass proved to be a little bumpy for the Z4 but it certainly ate up the tight bends and my smile just got wider and wider! The Cape Town country side has so much to offer and a day to explore towns like Ceres, Franschhoek, Villiersdorp, Paarl and Stellenbosch is definitely not enough but when you have a vehicle like this at your fingertips driving is a joy!
On Sunday I managed to get 18 holes in at the new Metropolitan Golf Course and surprisingly enough got two sets of golf clubs in the boot of the Z4, my mind raced…a drive to the Garden Route for a weekend of golf…the possibilities are endless!
Many thanks must go to Status Luxury Vehicles for giving us this amazing vehicle for the weekend, if a Z4 isn’t to your liking then you’re in luck, Status Luxury Vehicles feature a wide range of vehicles in their fleet including various Ferraris, Porsches, Aston Martins and other supercars to add a touch of glamour to your South African holiday.
