2nd Day at Singita Kruger National Park

2nd Day at Singita Kruger National Park

At about 5 am the phone rang! A friendly voice on the other side saying “wake up call” - so I said “thank you” and fell right back asleep- oops!

I was later woken up by a knock on the door. The poor porter had come to fetch me and I was still in my PJ’s. So I quickly got dressed and went to the main area. Only 3 of us had actually got up for the drive, we were served coffee and rusks. It was raining and we couldn’t go on a drive in the concession as it had rained more than 10mm and so the roads could not be driven on due to ecological reasons.

So, we went on a drive in a closed vehicle onto the Kruger roads. It was raining far too much and we could hardly see anything, so we decided to go back to the lodge and try get some more sleep before breakfast. We had breakfast at Lebombo, there was a cold buffet, with muesli , freshly backed goods, fruits, yoghurts and so on, and of course the A la carte menu serving anything from eggs benedict to french toast.

After breakfast , we each enjoyed some shopping at the village and a treatment at the SPA. We decided to skip lunch and have a high tea instead. The high tea had a variety of foods, small sandwiches, little tarts, sweets, ice coffee, freshly made lemonade etc?

Later in the afternoon we went of on a game drive where we also tracked some rhino by foot ? a somewhat daunting experience but nevertheless adrenalin pumping I might say! Sundowners this evening were exciting as 2 elephant bulls decided to come down the hill side towards us. I am sure they could smell Johnson?s (our tracker?s) Naartjie! But we packed up on time and Sheperd (our ranger) took us closer to them for a up-close and personal look. Back at the lodge, we were met by a different cocktail to the previous night. This time it was a White Russian.

That evening we enjoyed a wine tasting with Ricardo the sommelier, followed by dinner a la carte. We all though we would give the pool a try ? but never got round to it.. we were just too tired “from the wine” not the drives. hmmmm!

As I returned to my room, a lovely surprise awaited me. They had run a bath. Rose petals all over the bathroom as well as on the bed, a bottle of bubbly and candles. How romantic.
