Schoone Oordt Country House

Schoone Oordt Country House

We departed Cape Town around 8:30pm and drove for about 2 hours to reach Swellendam. On arrival at Schoone Oordt, Allison was there to greet us and show us to our luxury room. Wow, that was all I could say when we walked into our room. As winter was fast approaching the sight of the fireplace at the end of the bed was a very welcome amenity. Having shown us around the basics of our room Allison bid us good night and left us for a brilliant nights’ sleep!

Breakfast in the morning was delicious – with a choice of a few cereals including Allison’s delicious homemade muesli, we were then treated to a 2 course breakfast! A great way to start the day.

The area of Swellendam has so many wonderful places to explore and visit. From a trip down to Agulhas (the most Southern tip of Africa), horse riding in the forest, driving over Tradouw’s Pass or visiting one of the local wine farms there is something to keep visitors busy! I would highly recommend a stay of 2 nights to really enjoy everything on offer including the scrumptious dinners!

Your car is also washed daily which is a great value add for those self-driving!

Our family stay at the Cape Royale was one to remember.  I decided to take my two small children with on this occasion. Butterflies in tummy and hoping that the kids would behave, we travelled to the Cape Royale.
