Hippo Hollow

Hippo Hollow

The Lodge is a great 3 star property and has an “Out of Africa” feel on a country estate. They have a mixture of rooms that are tastefully decorated but the one that caught our eye were the self catering river chalets which over look the Sabie River, spacious and surrounded by perfect landscaped gardens and a wonderful swimming pool where one can sit back, relax and enjoy the sunset.

After been shown to our rooms we met back in the Lobby for an experience of a lifetime – Elephant Whispers where you interact with these gentle giants – wow what a great time we had.

Hippo Hollow have a variety of activities that you can embark on with an open vehicle game safaris in the world famous Kruger National Park, helicopter adventures to the Blyde River Canyon, white water rafting to name but a few……………

After dinner in their ala carte restaurant the events of the day had finally caught up with us.  We made our way to our rooms where they are very spacious and have all the basic amenities and had the perfect nights sleep.

Whilst enjoying a sumptuous breakfast the next morning we were watching the hippo’s grazing on the lawn before we had to depart again to our next destination. I wish I could have stayed there forever!

I would definitely recommend Hippo Hollow – home away from home and truly a wonderful place!
