Nkomazi is located very close to Swaziland, and is four hours drive from Johannesburg, and three hours from sister property Jock Safari Lodge, in Kruger National Park.
The scenery, landscape and biodiversity at Nkomazi is simply magnificent… There are vast open savanna areas, mountains and even forested areas. The game is incredible with large herds of Wildebeest, Impala, and plenty of plains game. They also have Lions, Rhino, Giraffe, Elephant and so much more. It would be ideal to combine Nkomazi with a Kruger lodge as you would get to experience the Big 5 in the Kruger and the large plains herds at Nkomazi! Best of both worlds!
The lodge at Nkomazi is called Komati Lodge, it is tented and the tents have Out Of Africa feel to them. Very spacious, LARGE beds, outdoor bath tub, and indoor shower, decks with loungers and small plunge pools. All facing the most beautiful Komati River. The sounds coming from the river are quite soothing and relaxing. The Main area of the lodge has a splendid view over the river, and their Retreat (Spa) is waithin reach of the river banks.
Meals are definitely fine dining (diner is served as a 3 – 4 course meal under cloches) and we were indeed very impressed with the quality and quantity of the food. The staff is amazing and very friendly – Hugo our Ranger was very knowledgeable and we gave him the difficult task – in only one game drive to find Rhino, Zebra and Lions…. All of which he did in 2 hours! WOW
Ulrich the lodge manager was very helpful and friendly and we enjoyed his company.
Would I recommend Nkomazi - most definitely to clients who have a little more time and want to visit Kruger and another area, as well as for Honeymooners as this place is simply magical.
