The Makgadikgadi Pans National Park is a spectacular expanse of ancient lake bed home to the black-maned Kalahari Lion, leopard and vast herds of antelope. To the east of the delta, the Chobe region is reknowned for Africa's largest permanent population of elephants, along with giraffe, lion, cheetah, antelope and jackals. The Savuti region of Chobe is well known for prides of lions, some of which have learned to take down Elephants during the dry season when other sources of food are thin on the ground. Further north you will find the Linyanti Wetlands, a remote, expansive and untouched region stretching along the banks of the Chobe Floodplains.

Although Botswana boasts an extensive road network, roads in game reserves and parks are extremely rough and impassable especially during the rainy season. We recommend that you fly into your safari destination by scheduled charter plane from regional airports such as Maun or Kasane. Why not add on a visit to Victoria Falls in Zambia when travelling to Botswana, as there is very easy access from Kasane and the Chobe region. It is wise to plan ahead when visiting this destination as the Botswana government limits tourism numbers. The Chobe Region of Botswana, stretching over 11 000 square kilometres, comprises four distinctly different ecological areas. In the extreme north-east lies Serondela, in the north-west the Linyanti Swamps and to the west the Savuti Marsh and then the dry hinterland between them.
