Follow in the footsteps of 19th century explorer Thomas Baines to his namesake Baines’ Camp set in the pristine heart of Botswana’s Okavango Delta for an exclusive African safari adventure.

With only five luxurious elevated suites set on platforms under the shade of indigenous trees and overlooking the gorgeous Bora River, you will undertake a very intimate journey into the mysteries of the Okavango Delta. The luxury suites, gourmet meals and excellent service complement the richness of the game viewing possibilities here.

Although you are perfectly positioned at Baines’ Camp to watch a wide variety of animals without leaving the comfort of the deck, the waterways and islands of the region call to be explored. Walk it, drive it or drift through the beautiful landscape in a mokoro boat keeping a sharp eye out for hippos and crocodiles in the water and the abundance of wildlife including lions and elephant on the banks of the river.  You can head out on a night safari to gain a glimpse into the normally hidden wildlife world of the Okavango or hang out with semi-habituated elephants for a different perspective on life in the bush.

Tours & Safaris to Baines Camp

Get right into the heart of Botswana’s Okavango Delta with guided walking safaris, 4x4 game drives or drift through the glittering water channels that link the mainland, lagoons and islands of the region in a mokoro boat. These dugout canoes were originally carved from ebony but have been modernised using commercially grown wood and fibreglass so as not to impact further on the fragile environment of the Okavango.

Highly recommended is the unique elephant interaction that you can experience at Baine’s Camp when you take a walk with semi-habituated elephants through the bush. You will spend the entire morning walking in the company of three elephants, orphaned from culling operations, gaining insights into their behaviour and creating unforgettable memories for yourself. Or you can head onto the animal paths that surround the camp with highly experienced guides that can point out tracks, name the 500 bird species in the region and provide some tracking tips.

This luxury African safari destination, Baines’ Camp, is located on the banks of the Boro River within a private concession bordering the Moremi Game Reserve in the Okavango Delta. This is one of the most prolific wildlife habitats in Africa.
