Fly in to the luxury Chief’s Camp in the Moremi Game Reserve, part of the Okavango Delta region of Botswana, to stay on an island in the midst of what was once the hereditary king’s royal hunting grounds. This area has long been a favoured destination for animals, particularly predators, with its abundance of water and therefore prey.

Stay in absolute luxurious comfort at Chief’s Camp, sleeping in secluded bush pavilions tucked away in a jackalberry and sausage tree woodland overlooking the plain. All are spacious and stylish with their own private viewing decks so that you don’t miss a minute of the action at this game rich destination. Great meals and fabulous wines are served up at the communal lodge, a split-level venue comprising dining areas, a bar, curio shops, viewing decks and a swimming pool.

Choose how to interact with the Okavango Delta at Chief’s Camp – glide through the channels by mokoro looking out for hippo and crocodiles, head into the bush on a game drive to spot elephant, lion and buffalo or take to the air in a helicopter for some great photographs of the Delta region. Back at the lodge, relax in the swimming pool or book for an exclusive spa treatment.

Tours & Safaris to Chiefs Camp

Get right up close to the local wildlife in a dugout canoe, the mokoro, particularly in June when the area around the camp floods and turns this region into a maze of interconnected channels attracting masses of animals looking for water. Go deep into the African bush in specially modified 4x4 vehicles with expert guides on morning and early evening game drives. You may see prides of lions stalking the thousands of antelope, zebra and buffalo that live in these parts and the extremely rare predator, the wild dog. The Big 5 all live here so look out for them including the plains elephant and elusive rhino. A great way to spot game is by helicopter, this is also a good way to gain an understanding of the vastness of the Delta and the best way to take photographs of the region.

Between game excursions book yourself in for a spa treatment or spend some time relaxing around the crystal clear swimming pool on the lower decks of the main lodge.

Chief’s Camp is set in the Mombo Concession, part of the Moremi Game Reserve in the Okavango Delta region of Botswana. It is accessible by air from Maun and Kasane as well as Stanley and Baines’ Camp.
