The Cottar safari tradition began in 1919 when the family first moved to Kenya. Now, almost 100 years and five generations later, Cottar’s invites its guests to experience the romance and adventure of the early days of safari in its authentic 1920s-style camp.
Cottar’s Safari Camp has a magical setting in a private conservancy rich in game. No hot air balloons fly overhead, no minibuses buzz around. And, as you sip a G&T on verandah of your luxurious tent, it’s easy to feel that you’ve left the modern world far behind and slipped back to an age where time moves more slowly.
Safaris are led by a team of gold standard guides. Go on game drives and guided bush walks in the private conservancy, or set off to explore the Masai Mara Reserve. Sightings of lion, elephant, cheetah and rhino are common, and between all the excitement there’s plenty of time to relax alongside the infinity pool or treat yourself to a massage at the spa.
Cottar's main dining tent is decorated with authentic safari antiques and old family photos. Service is five-star, and in the evening everyone sits down together to fine dining around a ‘family style’ table warmed by the soft glow from silver candelabras.
