Escape to Mozambique’s first eco-boutique resort set on the idyllic tropical island of Benguerra within the exquisite Bazaruto Archipelago off Mozambique’s coastline. Treat yourself to a magical encounter with a pristine and exquisite natural environment by staying at the very exclusive Azura Benguerra Island.
Built by local island inhabitants, the luxury villas epitomise traditional African elements combined with the glamorous comforts of oversized beds, air-conditioning and luxury amenities. Set right on the beachfront, you will be mere steps away from the balmy Indian Ocean water and white sand beaches of this beautiful destination. Combining local woods, thatch and artisanal talent, the retreat is truly a haven from the world. Determined to impact as little as possible on the surrounding environment Azura Benguerra Island aims to be a sustainable luxury resort and is in fact, Mozambique’s first carbon-neutral resort.
The property offers 16 sumptuous villas right beside the tropical beach. There is the ultra-luxurious Villa Amizade and a Presidential Villa, one Beach Villa, three Luxury Beach Villas and the remaining Infinity Beach Villas. The Infinity and Luxury villas are tucked away along a private stretch of the coast, covering some 650m², with all of the beach resort's villas being extra spacious and plush.
The key differences between the Luxury Villas and the Infinity Villas are the superlative location of the latter, the larger splash pools and more spacious bathrooms with free-standing bathtubs. The Luxury Beach Villas feature medium sized plunge pools (3.5m) whilst the Infinity Villas have outsized rim-flow pools (5m in length). Although the Beach Villas are slightly more compact, these luxurious villas are still spacious and excellently located.
Spend your time here indulging in beach walks, water sports, romantic dhow cruises and the very best cuisine available. There are unique African spa treatments on offer, a variety of interesting excursions and access to some of the best snorkelling and diving sites in the world.
