Indulge in your desire to see cheetahs and leopards at the luxury Okonjima Bush Camp in the Omboroko Mountains in northern Namibia. Located on the edge of a wilderness area, Okonjima is home to the Africat Foundation, a charitable organisation that works to rescue and relocate cheetahs. This luxury bush camp offers you a unique opportunity to watch these magnificent creatures in the wild.

You will be staying in one of eight luxurious African-styled chalets with ochre earth walls, khaki coloured canvas walls and a thatched roof. To get even closer to nature roll up the walls during the day or night and enjoy the view! The main living area is built in the shape of the indigenous ‘Camelthorn’ pod and combines the dining room, lounge and bar overlooking the waterhole. This is a favoured place at sunset when both you and the animals are enjoying a drink.  There is a curio shop and an open fireplace in the lounge area with large comfy chairs to relax in.

Spend your days cheetah tracking, leopard viewing, bird watching (there are over 300 species of identified birds around the camp) or exploring the area on a variety of walking trails. Feeling lazy? Just relax around the swimming pool or on the private deck attached to your room and soak in the peaceful atmosphere of the bush. In the evenings you are welcome to visit the night hide and observe nocturnal animals such as the honey badger and porcupine. Early morning and sundowner guided walks are on offer – this is the best time to view animals as they come out to drink or eat. Don’t be surprised to see Okonjima’s tame lions – Matata, Tambo and Tessie –around the lodge in the mornings!

Please note that this exclusive lodge cannot take children under the age of 12 years because of the proximity of lion, leopard and cheetahs.
