Find Kulala Wilderness Camp at the foot of a mountain in the heart of the Namib Desert. Perfect for couples, families or small groups of friends looking for an intimate African desert adventure, this value-for-money destination offers you comfortable accommodation in ‘Meru’-style tents.

You will always have a great view of the mountains and red dunes as the tents are elevated with double glass doors on the front and they are comfortably appointed. Interiors are simple yet stylish. The ‘rooms’ are linked to the main dining room, a fully stocked bar and reception area via a series of pathways.

Hearty breakfasts and 3-course dinners are served up in the dining area and you are welcome to retire to the small deck and plunge pool for some stargazing at night. The intimacy of this small camp set in 46 000 acres of private reserve promises you a holiday you will never forget.

Kulala Wilderness Camp – authentic African hospitality in tented accommodation.

This ten-roomed camp is perfect for families, couples or small groups looking for that authentic African getaway experience. Suited to self-drive guests as well as those on guided safaris, accommodation is on a dinner, bed and breakfast basis. Lunch can be arranged at an extra cost.

Offering great value-for-money, the tents all have en-suite showers, a toilet and a handbasin; a solar geyser heats the water. Tents are elevated to maximise airflow and are simply yet stylishly decorated. Each room has a private veranda and rooftop area allowing you to soak in the desert atmosphere day or night. Soap, shampoos and insect repellent are supplied in each room as well as bottled water.

Amenities at the main camp include a fully stocked bar as well as a restaurant plus a small deck and plunge pool to offer you some respite from the heat of the day.

The Namib-Naukluft region is known for its scenic beauty and, of course, the highest sand dunes in the world so it is not a prime game-viewing destination. However, there are regular sightings of a variety of antelope, the Cape fox, jackals and the rare aardwolfs. Experienced guides at this luxury lodge will take you on nature drives into the desert and of particular interest in this area is the desert-adapted flora such as the unusual Moringa and Quiver trees.

Other activities include excursions to San rock painting sites, the red dunes of Sossusvlei as well as horse-riding safaris and the opportunity to float above it all in a hot-air balloon.

Kulala Wilderness Camp is 40kms from Sesriem, the main gateway to the Namib-Naukluft Park and the dunes at Sossusvlei in Namibia.
