The 14 luxury suites are set in a variety of locations each with its own unique offering yet all promising stylish comfort and space for relaxation. They all have underfloor heating, generous en-suite bathrooms, heated towel rails with a decor that celebrates colour and texture. The expected amenities of telephone, satellite TV and a mini-bar are included.

All named with Zulu words, the Lakeside Suites overlook a trout lake and are individually decorated with luxury touches falling into the Hartford’s Ezulweni (‘in the heavens’) collection. The luxury suites in the main house are named after families that have impacted in some way on the area and the Garden Suites are set out in the beautiful grounds of the luxury Hartford House. There are also suites set out around the veranda named after famous horses.

Revel in the fabulous food on offer at Hartford Restaurant with the emphasis firmly on locally sourced, fresh ingredients including meats and cheeses. Dinner is a sumptuous five course affair enjoyed by candlelight in the dining room or on the spacious veranda. If you are staying here on a Saturday night be sure to stay in to see one of the best traditional dance displays in the country. And to work up an appetite for the gourmet meals play tennis or swim in the pool, take up fly fishing or go for a horse ride.

There is also a small, fully-equipped conference centre as well as a chapel for romantic luxury weddings.

There is so much to do on the property you might never want to leave! You can go horse riding, indulge in a body or beauty treatment at the Hartford Wellness Centre, and learn how to fly fish or spend some serious time trout or bass fishing. There is a swimming pool and tennis court on site and your hosts are happy to help you arrange a whole host of other activities.

In the nearby vicinity you will find golf courses, game and nature conservancies, San rock art and a little bit further away the famous KwaZulu-Natal battlefields. On request you can try your hand at clay pigeon shooting, undertake a canopy tour or book for a helicopter flight over the surrounding area and Drakensberg Mountains.

The luxury Hartford House is set on a racehorse stud farm uniquely located to explore the Midlands, Drakensberg and Battlefield regions of KwaZulu-Natal. It is easily accessible from Johannesburg (four hours drive) and Durban (90 minutes) by road.
