Lion Sands Tinga Lodge sits on the bank of Sabie River, in a private concession within the world-famous Kruger National Park. This enviable position puts you right at the heart of big game country – but with the advantage of guided off-road game drives for thrilling up-close sightings of the park's herds and prides.
Tinga Lodge has just nine suites, each utterly private with views out across the river. Inside you’ll find a king-size bed draped in white mosquito netting, a separate lounge area, and a wonderful bathroom with a bathtub overlooking the African bush. The outside space is equally inviting: your own private deck with a plunge pool, sun loungers, and comfortable cane furniture for a spot of armchair game viewing.
The main lodge at Lion Sands Tinga has a grand, cathedral-like entrance, leading through to a riverside deck built around an ancient Jackalberry tree (said to be 200 years old!). On sunny days meals are served al fresco, and there’s always a good chance of having a leisurely lunch while watching a herd of elephant or pod of hippo down at the water.
As for the game drives, while nothing on safari is guaranteed most guests who spend a few days at Lion Sands Kruger Park see all of Africa’s Big Five – lion, leopard, elephant, buffalo and rhino – along with a host of other creatures and birds.
