IN THE NATIVE SHANGAAN LANGUAGE, Tintswalo means ‘the intangible feeling of love, gratitude and peace bestowed upon someone offering you a meaningful and worthy gift.’
Tintswalo Safari Lodge is this gift, located in the Mpumulanga Province on the private Big Five Manyeleti Reserve concession nestled between the Timbavati Private Reserve to the north, Sabi Sand Reserve to the south, and open to the Greater Kruger National Park on its fenceless eastern boundary.
The reserve is unique for its very low vehicle density and the lodge itself overlooks a waterhole frequented by large herds of elephant and other big game, offering as a result a truly exclusive safari experience.
Six luxurious suites and one presidential suite are authentically decorated to recall the pioneering spirit of 19th-century African explorers. They are situated along a dry riverbed, so nature can be fully appreciated from the comfort of the suites – each of which has an indoor/outdoor shower, spacious bathrooms that open onto the private deck and pool, king-size beds, overhead fans, air conditioners and canopied mosquito nets. They are connected to the main lodge by raised wooden walkways.
Guest can enjoy expert spa treatments and the executive chef is on hand to create cuisine to suit individual requirements. The dining room offers a traditional atmosphere of colonial bush living, while boma dinners and romantic wine cellar options add variety to the experience.
