Pioneer Camp is steeped in the early history of Londolozi. It was here that over 80 years ago the Varty ancestors arrived after three days of hard travel by rail, wagon and on foot, and pitched their tents in the falling light. Today, this magnificent location is the site of Londolozi Pioneer Camp. Londolozi Pioneer Camp combines old colonial style with contemporary African culture. The main living area is open-plan, containing a kitchen, sitting room and dining area. This spacious and open area allows guests to enjoy views of the breathtaking landscape while relaxing in comfort.
A 500-year old Riverine forest throws dappled light on the six exclusive chalets at the camp and provides a dramatic backdrop for the camp’s celebration of the past. The colonial influences are evident at Pioneer Camp in the elegant cream interiors, silver teapots at High Tea and Portmeirion crockery. The six chalets that comprise the accommodation at Londolozi Pioneer Camp are themed with historic memorabilia, telling a story of a bygone era and furnishing an environment of leisurely indulgence. The swimming pool offers a welcome respite on warmer days. Guests enjoy the exclusive use of Pioneer Camp, which is entriely independent, visitors are however welcome at the nearby gift shop and information centre located at Londolozi Bateleur Camp.
