Kariega River Lodge

The ten luxury suites at Kariega River Lodge are set out along the banks of the Bushman’s River and offer you supreme comforts. These thatched suites are all tastefully decorated and include spacious bedrooms with king-sized beds, en-suite bathrooms featuring ornate baths and large showers. There are daily opportunities to view the wildlife found on the reserve including the Big Five through early morning and late afternoon game drives. There are also well-marked hiking trails in the area that have been laid out in predator-free zones, so you can walk safely amongst the smaller animal species and better appreciate the natural beauty of the reserve. Catch the daily ferry which runs down the Bushman’s River to the seaside town of Kenton-on-Sea with its lovely beaches or book a canoe and head out on a leisurely paddle past the many animals that frequent the Bushman’s River. This is the perfect destination if you are a keen angler; there are rods available at the luxury Kariega River Lodge and you can take your pick of fishing spots from the river bank, a canoe or boat.

In close proximity to this luxury lodge are the historic towns of Salem, Grahamstown, Bathurst and Port Alfred, all of which are interesting to visit. Spend some time on the golden beaches of Kenton-on-Sea less than 15 minutes drive away and for golfers, there are two courses (the Royal Port Alfred and the Fish River Sun) less than 50 minutes drive away.
