Fishermen are welcome to bring their own equipment along and set up base on the banks or explore the river by canoe to find your best spot. You can get up close to nature on the well-marked hiking trails that are set up in a predator-free part of the reserve but are still home to more than 25 species of game and an abundance of birdlife.

Golfers will be happy to know that there are two courses within close driving distance of this luxury lodge – the Gary Player-designed Fish River Sun course as well as the Royal Port Alfred. Another great daytrip option is to explore the charming towns of Salem, Bathurst, Grahamstown and Port Alfred; all of them are of historical interest as well as being quaint and well worth the visit.
