Morukuru Ocean House is a 4-bedroom oceanfront villa in De Hoop Nature Reserve, on the Cape Whale Coast. With no other properties in sight, this beautiful home is the perfect place to reconnect with family or enjoy a small celebration with friends.
Ocean House is run by an outstanding team including a private chef, and a guide who not only knows the area but is great fun to hang out with too. How you spend your days is entirely up to you: explore the area on mountain bikes, go on a guided coastal walk, have a beach picnic, try sand boarding, snorkel in rock pools or laze alongside the swimming pool with the butler on hand should you need anything.
The house can sleep up to eight adults and four children. There are four suites, each with glass doors opening onto the mesmerising ocean views. Upstairs you’ll find an open-plan lounge with plenty of comfortable couches, a bar, fireplace (that’s lit on chilly evenings), and a telescope for spotting whales whilst sipping your favourite drink.
Other great features of Morukuru Ocean House include the rooftop terrace, beautiful dining room (again with those views) and a sheltered patio for alfresco lunches. Before each meal the chef will chat to you about a menu; of course you also have 100% access to the kitchen – it’s your home after all – but cooking is certainly not on the cards unless you really want to.
The well-named Cape Whale Coast is one of the best places to see Southern Right whales, which come to these waters calve and nurse their young. Whale season runs from mid-July to November, with numbers reaching their peak in September.
