Zambia

Wild, relatively untouched and definitely unspoilt, Zambia is the perfect choice of destination for an adventure or luxury African vacation. Lying directly north of Zimbabwe and Botswana, landlocked Zambia is known for its abundance of wildlife, rivers and lakes as well as the pristine African wilderness experience on offer.

Find the beautiful, rugged Luangwa Valley in the east of the country at the tail end of the western arm of the Great Rift Valley. Both the North and South Luangwa National Parks have been established on the banks of the Luangwa River and are home to an astonishing array of wildlife including more than 400 bird species and 60 different animal species. This was the birthplace of the walking safari and today the luxury lodges and camps promise a unique wildlife experience. Head south and inland to experience the absolute wildness of the Lower Zambezi region with its multitude of habitats and enjoy the opportunity to get really close to the abundance of game wandering in and out of the Zambezi Channels.

To the west find the Kafue Flats, internationally recognised as a wetland of global importance and a haven for birds and game as well as the mighty predators. A favoured fishing, birding and game-viewing destination, the Kafue Flats is home to the famous Kafue lechwe, a marsh antelope only found in this beautiful region.

South and west to the border of Zimbabwe is one of the world’s most popular and beautiful tourism attractions, Victoria Falls. The slow moving Zambezi River becomes a raging torrent as it crashes down gorges and chasms to create the magnificent waterfall known as Mosi-oa-Tunya – the ‘smoke that thunders’. A fabulous destination for a luxury safari vacation, this area is also one of Africa’s prime adventure centres.

Whether you are looking for a legendary wildlife experience, want to visit one of the natural wonders of the world, are seeking action adventure or a combination tour of all of the above, Zambia has it all and Southern Africa Travel is waiting to advise you on your best African vacation options in the beautiful destination of Zambia.
