Victoria Falls Zambia

For sheer awe-inspiring natural beauty and a superlative safari vacation experience head to the Victoria Falls region of Zambia. The normally placid Zambezi River plunges down gorges and a chasm to create the world’s largest waterfalls at Victoria Falls located within the Mosi-oa-Tunya (‘smoke that thunders’) National Park of Zambia. Clouds of spray blow back into the sky from the 546 million cubic meters of water that plummet over the 2km edge every minute creating dancing rainbows and a thunderous roar that follows you wherever you go in this area. The Victoria Falls region of Zambia is found to the south of the Kafue Flats and Lower Zambezi region and to the south west of the Luangwa National Parks and is one of Zambia’s highlight destinations.

Stay in colonial splendour along the banks of the Zambezi River or in upmarket African lodges, there is a wide range of luxury accommodation available that will provide the perfect base to explore this naturally beautiful adventure capital of Africa. You can combine your visit here with other Zambian destinations on one of our carefully researched luxury tours.

Spend some time at the Falls walking on the well-marked paths in the rain forests alongside. Victoria Falls is spectacular year-round but the peak flood season is around March and April when the full power of the Falls can be experienced in all its glory. Due to the masses of spray rising from the fallen water the full width of the Falls cannot be seen on foot during this time. We recommend that you take to the air for a fabulous viewing experience known as the ‘Flight of Angels’.

Below the Falls it is possible to go white water rafting, one of the best destinations for this in Africa, or bungee jump from the 111 metre high bridge. Cruise down the river, explore the region by elephant-or-horseback safari but make sure that you don’t miss out on this fantastic African destination.

The Zambian side of Victoria Falls is also known for the quality of its wildlife viewing. Look out for white rhino, buffalo, elephant and giraffe in this region as well as the commonly sighted baboons and warthogs.
