Hwange National Park is Zimbabwe's largest game reserve known for its abundance and diversity of wildlife. Only an hour's drive away is the World Heritage Site of the Victoria Falls and covering more than 14 000 square kilometres, Hwange is home to vast herds of zebra, giraffe, buffalo and elephant. One of the unique features of the park is the largest surviving group of wild dogs in Africa. A definite location of choice for wildlife lovers.
Luxury accommodation is provided at a number of upmarket game lodges in the region who can arrange numerous different activities for their guests. Whether it be a safari game drive, a safari bush walk or even a horseback safari, nothing is too much trouble.
Located between Bulawayo and Victoria Falls visitors to the region can also enjoy the ancient fossil dunes where the park borders the Kalahari Desert. visitors to the region can also expect to meet one of the world's largest elephant populations.
Hwange lies on the edge of the Kalahari which makes it subject to great extremes in temperature. Between December and March/April visitors to the area can expect to experience a hot wet summer when temperatures will generally range from 25-38oC. June and July are the cool, dry winter months. Days are normally pleasant, sunny and warm (around the mid-20s) but at night the temperature can plummet.
