The Jaci’s Lodges Story

The malaria-free Madikwe Game Reserve is set on nearly 75,000 hectares of reclaimed land in South Africa’s North West province. Proclaimed in 1991 the reserve set the scene for one of the largest game relocation projects in the world. Operation Phoenix started in 1991 and was completed in 1997 moving more than 8,000 animals including an entire elephant herd.

Today, the reserve is home to over 300 bird species and more than 60 mammal species including the Big Five and the highly endangered Cape Hunting Dog (also known as the African Wild Dog).

Jaci’s Lodges have been operating in the reserve for over 10 years. Featuring two luxury safari lodges uniquely set in the African bush, Jaci’s is renowned for great food and warm hospitality. In addition to various community service projects and educational programmes, Jaci’s Lodges provide their staff with the opportunity through the Jaci’s Staff Trust to become shareholders in the business – the first accommodation establishment to do this in South Africa.
