This 13-day journey takes you to four of Southern Africa’s top destinations! Start with a few relaxing days on the beaches of Cape Town before jetting off to world-renowned Sabi Sands for a luxurious Big 5 safari. Next, stay in an elegant hotel a short walk from Victoria Falls, then round off your incredible holiday with game drives and mokoro safaris in the magical Okavango Delta.
Cape Town was voted number 1 in the New York Time’s “Places to Go in 2014” – and it’s easy to see why!
There’s so much to do in this beautiful city: catch the cable car to the top of Table Mountain, and go on a private tour of the city centre including the colourful Cape Malay area, historic Company Gardens and vibrant Greenmarket Square.
It’s not just the city that has earned Cape Town its accolades, however. A Cape Peninsula tour takes you along the incredibly scenic coastal road past the beaches of Camps Bay and Clifton, and down to Cape Point Nature Reserve with its rugged cliffs. On your way back you’ll stop at Boulders Beach, famous for its colony of comical penguins.
We’d also highly recommend a half-day cultural tour with Uthando, a non-profit organisation which takes visitors so see innovative grassroots projects in the Cape Town townships – an inspirational experience.
Experience a thrilling safari at Singita Ebony, a luxurious lodge set within a private game reserve in South Africa’s Sabi Sands. Few places in the world can match the game intensity found in the Sabi Sands; this is without doubt one of the best destinations to see the Big 5.
Set off through big cat country on morning and afternoon game drives led by Singita's exceptional guides. Be sure to keep your camera at the ready as you’re likely to spot a great variety of wildlife including lion, leopard, rhino, large herds of buffalo, elephant and cheetah.
Between game viewing activities there’s plenty of time to relax in your suite or indulge in a spa treatment. In the evening everyone sits down together to dine in the boma under the stars, your meal accompanied by a bottle of wine from their cellar which includes some of the continent’s most sought-after reserves.
The Royal Livingstone is just a 15-minute walk from Victoria Falls, and staying at this luxurious hotel gives you unlimited free access to the falls via the resort’s private entrance.
Wander the paths that wind through mist-soaked rainforest, opening to reveal spectacular views of this mighty waterfall. To put into perspective how large the falls really are we’d also recommend taking to the sky on a scenic helicopter or – for the more adventurous - microlight flight.
There’s plenty else to do in the area: cruise the Zambezi River onboard the African Queen, keeping an eye out for game on the riverbanks whilst friendly waiters serve you drinks and snacks. You can also go on an elephant-back safari, walk with lions or go horse riding in a nearby reserve.
Situated in the extreme north of the Okavango Delta, Vumbura Plains lies in a beautiful area of crystal-clear waterways, floodplains, forests and small palm islands.
Because of these varied habitats, Vumbura offers a wide array of both water- and land-based activities. Cruise past lily pads and through reed-lined channels on a traditional mokoro, or explore the deeper waters on a motorboat safari. On land, game drives give you the chance to seek out this region’s predators - several resident prides of lion, as well as leopard, cheetah and African wild dog - and there’s also the option of guided nature walks.
After a busy wildlife-packed day, relax on the star-gazing deck and enjoy relaxed conversation around the campfire and the sounds of the African bush at night.
