Start in Cape Town with its spectacular scenery, world-class restaurants and vibrant cultural mix; from there it’s off to the Sabi Sands, a private Kruger Reserve that’s one of the best places in Africa to see the Big 5 (lion, leopard, elephant, rhino and buffalo); then round off your holiday overlooking a private beach in sunny Mozambique.

  • Stay in Cape Town's V&A Waterfront
  • Take a trip to the top of Table Mountain
  • Go on game drives in the Sabi Sands Reserve

Explore Cape Town While Staying in the V&A Waterfront

Cape Town V&A Waterfront

Start your holiday in one of the most beautiful cities in the world, Cape Town. Staying at Queen Victoria Hotel puts you an easy stroll from world-class restaurants, boutique stores, craft markets and the Robben Island ferry; yet a bit back from the bustle and buzz of the V&A Waterfront, Cape Town’s top attraction.

Four days is just enough time to fall in love with Cape Town. This city offers up so many exciting activities: drive the magnificent coastlines, find your favourite beach, get to the top of Table Mountain (hike or take the cable car), visit grand estates in the surrounding Cape Winelands and learn more about the city’s eclectic cultural mix on a guided walking tour or hands-on cooking class.

After a busy day out, enjoy a fine dining experience at the hotel restaurant Dash or pick from the many options in the Waterfront (try the Harbour House for seafood or Madame Zingara’s for a fun night out).  And while Queen Victoria Hotel doesn’t have a swimming pool of its own, staying here gives you access to the next-door Dock House Boutique Hotel which has a lovely pool area and designer spa.

Luxury Big Game Safari in the World-Renowned Sabi Sands

Sabi Sands safari

From Cape Town you fly to the Kruger National Park for a luxury safari in Sabi Sand Private Reserve. Sharing an unfenced border with the Kruger Park, Sabi Sands is one of South Africa’s finest wildlife sanctuaries with an exceptionally high concentration of both animal and birdlife.

Spend the next couple of days on morning and game drives led by Notten’s experienced rangers. You’ve got a really good chance of seeing Africa’s Big 5 – lion, elephant, rhino, buffalo and even the elusive leopard – along with cheetah, giraffe, zebra, hyena, jackal and (if you’re lucky) the endangered wild dog! Also, as it's a private reserve your guide can drive off road getting you up close to sightings, and you have the option of guided walking safaris (which are not permitted in national parks).

As for your accommodation, Notten’s Bush Camp is a family-run lodge known for its fantastic service and welcoming atmosphere.  There are just 8 suites each opening onto their own game viewing deck furnished with comfortable loungers. There’s no electricity in the suites but that adds a touch of romance and adventure; think paraffin lamps, candlelit baths and dinner under a canopy of stars.
